Interior Design Society Becomes Fully Independent Association
HIGH POINT, NC – The Board of Directors of the Interior Design Society (IDS) announced today that it will become a fully independent association on January 1, 2008 with a focus on services for the residential interior design trade. IDS has enjoyed an extended relationship with the National Home Furnishings Association (NHFA) and was originally formed to recognize and support those retail operations with designer trained sales people. After the IDS board made its decision, Wogan S. Badcock III, President of NHFA, expressed appreciation for the IDS services to retailers and acknowledged the important role IDS will continue to play in the home furnishings industry and with residential interior designers. Andy Limone, President of the Interior Design Society, also emphasized these services when he commented that “IDS’ future plans include providing more professional designer training through national webinars and seminars”.
In the early 1970’s when NHFA retailers with a strong designer trade wanted to develop a program which recognized those retail operations with designer trained sales people, they also wanted to help provide designer training for those salespeople, wanted to help home furnishings retailers grow their business with the designer trade and wanted to assist designers with the services they needed. Since that beginning IDS has become the organization for independent residential designers, sales specialists, design-related businesses and design students. In fact, IDS has become the association which recognizes and assists “specialists in residential interior design”.
Pamela White, Executive Director of IDS, confirmed that IDS will continue to maintain its headquarters in High Point but will move to new offices in The Radio Building, 164 South Main Street. The new phone number is 336-884-4IDS.
