Do your credit card receipts comply with the law?
If they don’t, you could be in real trouble with the FTC. The Federal Trade Commission is reminding merchants to check their receipts to make sure they are comply with a law that has been in effect for all businesses since December 1, 2006.

According to the federal Fair and Accurate Transaction Act (FACTA), the electronically printed credit and debit card receipts you give customers must be shortened. You may include no more than five digits of the card number and delete the expiration date.

Failure to comply could open up your company to FTC enforcement action and suits by consumers. This is extremely important to you and your customers. Find out all about it by reading Protecting Personal Information: A Guide for Business at www.ftc.gov/infosecurity.
